Homer's Phobia was the first episode that focused exclusively on issues of homosexual nature.
The Simpson family decides to go to a store of purchase and sale of Antique called "Cockamamie's" to sell some of the family jewels, given the need to obtain money to buy a new clothes dryer. While there are Homer knows John, the owner of the store, which he begins to talk about the high value of certain objects of aesthetic colloquially called the camp (that is, objects which are attractive because they are ironic, taste or kitsch discussed, exaggerated and that, in general, are associated with homosexuals). Bart and Lisa are left impressed with the simpatico John, and Homer invites you to the Simpson's house to see the old and curios (and Camp) that are there. However, the other family members continue to see John Simpson, especially Bart, who begins to Hawaiian shirts and put that on one occasion danced while wearing a wig for women. This attitude is of deep concern to Homer, who begins to fear that Bart might be gay.
Bart that Homer tries to become more virile male and forcing him to look at posters advertising of cigarettes also show a model with little clothes, but it does not work. Next, he takes a steel factory to see the muscular workers, but find that the factory also functions as a gay nightclub called The Anvil (El Yunque). In desperation, Homer decides to take Bart to hunt deer with Moe and Barney, but when unable to find either decide to enter hidden in the town of Santa and shoot some deer in the corral. However, the plan fails and the deer attacked them. John, with the help of Lisa and Marge, Japanese robot uses a Santa Claus to scare the deer and saving the alleged poachers. Homer decides to accept more or less to John and tells Bart, who knew that was what his father thought, that shall in any way the choose to live their lives. When Lisa informs Bart that Homer thinks he is gay, the child becomes very surprised. The episode ends with everyone marching in the car of John .
Before the episode ends and the credits begin to emerge, a dedication to workers in the steel sector in the United States, which says "Keep reaching for that rainbow!" (Ã Keep trying to reach that rainbow!).
